The High School Track Team capped off another championship season this past weekend at New Balance Nationals in Greensboro, NC.
The Distance Medley Relay team of Junior Sierra Dinneen (3:37 1200m), Junior Sofia Garcia (60.2 400m), Sophomore Giavanna Comerford 2:21 (800m) Freshman Alyssia Brown (5:01 mile) broke their own NDA and Staten Island record by 11 seconds and placed 6th overall in a time of 11:59. This All-American Team was propelled to the podium by a team effort including Sierra’s strong leadoff leg in her third race of the meet, Sofia’s strong pass to Gia and Alyssia’s 9 second PR.
The sprint medley relay of Rylee Ignacio, Ava D’Amico, Sofia and Sierra competed Friday night and placed second in the Emerging Elite Division. Their time of 4:10.73 ranks 4th all-time on the SI All-Time list.
