Elaine Vitiello

As with many of the students she teaches, Elaine Vitiello was also inspired by her attendance at an all-girl Catholic High School located in Brooklyn. It was in that environment that she gained confidence and her love for learning. After high school, Elaine earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from the prestigious Stern School of Business at NYU.  After earning her degree, Elaine went on to work as an Accountant for many years.

While raising her children, Elaine realized her passion for education was still very strong and she attended the College of Staten Island for education courses. While teaching at the NYC Department of Education, Elaine continued with her education courses toward teacher certification.

Elaine was a Math teacher at a private high school on Staten Island for fifteen years where she earned the Teacher of the Year award which was presented at St. John’s University School of Education. During her tenure, she also was given supervisory responsibilities which included college counseling.

At Notre Dame Academy since 2015, Elaine is a Math teacher. She has taught Algebra, Geometry, and Algebra 2. The focus of her teaching math is to have students master the curriculum by understanding the material and applying the concepts.  She is looking forward to sharing her love of Math as the Math Club moderator.

Elaine also volunteers as a Eucharistic Minister and Lector at her parish of Our Lady Star of the Sea.  It is because of these important ministries that Elaine can share the Gospel message with her eleventh-grade Theology students and reinforce the importance of faith in their lives.

Due to her many years of experience in the business environment and in the classroom, Elaine is able to inspire her students to strive to do their best and to live the mission of Notre Dame Academy to be a transforming presence during and after high school.
